Summer Road Trip to Oregon

We took our first family-of-four road trip up to Oregon the week before Labor Day. It was a long journey in the car (12 hours up, 13 hours back) but the boys both did extremely well. Hudson slept most of the time and Cannon entertained himself by singing songs and talking about all the cool stuff he saw along the way (semi trucks, tractors, bulldozers, front loaders, etc). There seemed to be a fair amount of construction going on along the way to keep him entertained.

We stayed in Karen's hometown of Sweet Home for a couple days. The first night, Cannon had a mattress on the floor. He sleeps in a crib still at home, and the excitement of freedom proved too much for us all. So, very late at night we swapped beds for the boys. Hudson managed the freedom just fine. Daytime festivities were more fun... Yeema (Kathy) and Uncle Chris came down to Sweet Home. We went fishing at the lake. Cannon caught a fish on his first cast! We played at the park and hung out with PoPo and GongGong. And, of course, we ate and ate and ate.

We all caravaned up to Portland to see Uncle T-Dogg (Tony). In our hotel suite, Cannon slept in a little tent we borrowed. He thought that was really cool and he stayed in it! We visited the Oregon Zoo. We hyped up the train ride, but made the mistake of wearing out the boys before we could ride it. Next time, we'll ride the train first. Cannon enjoyed the animals, but got scared when the elephants ran toward us. We also stopped by the Children's Museum and OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). A little girl stole a train from Cannon at the Children's Museum, and we were bad parents and let her get away with it. We even went to visit Uncle Tony's place of work and Cannon's favorite brand - Nike! Hudson had fun riding the playground rides with his GongGong and PoPo.

We spent the last couple days in Corvallis where we had a special tour of the fire station and went blueberry picking. The fire station visit warrants its own post....coming soon.

All in all, we had a very fun and successful trip! A special thanks to our neighbors, Amy, Wahid, Sariah and Malia for taking care of our fish, Babcock, while we were gone. He was feeling a little sick before we left, but they nursed him back to health for us!

We took a ton of photos but here are just a few highlights of our trip:

Looks like a great time, and I absolutely love that photo of Cannon and Hudson sitting up next to each other.

But, where is the photo of Karen going down the fire pole? I heard she went down it, surely you got it on photo!!!
